Pneumatic Screw Pump

A Pneumatic Screw Pump uses the advantages of both mechanical and Pneumatic system for conveying the Dry free flowing materials up to a distance of around 500 to 700 meters. Typical Material that can be handled by Pneumatic Screw Pumps are :

Pulverised Coal, Pulverised Pet-Coke, Fly Ash, Bauxite, Cement, Dry Clay, Dolomite, Feldspar, Calcined Gypsum, Raw Gypsum, Lime, Magnetite, Silica, Talc etc.

Field of application
  • Grinding Mills to silo
  • Silo to silo
  • Dust collectors to silo
  • Burner feed for coal dust / ground pet coke
  • Loading / unloading of Rail cars, Ships, Trucks
  • Big Bag Discharging material to Silo

Principle of Operation

Material to be conveyed enters the Screw Pump inlet hopper. The Pump Screw advances the material to the discharge body where the material is compressed to form a material seal. The material seal prevents a reverse flow of conveying air from the mixing chamber. The Pump screw has a reverse pitch flight, which repels material and thus forcing the material into the mixing chamber.

After the material is discharged into the mixing chamber, compressed air entering the mixing chamber through the Air nozzles fluidizes it sufficiently to permit pumping through the transport line connected to the end of the mixing chamber.

A free-floating flapper valve, located in the discharge area of the pump, aids in preventing the reverse flow of air from the mixing chamber through the pump barrel. The pump screw assembly is coupled to a drive motor by either a shaft coupling or a V-belt drive. The screw pitch and the screw speed are carefully selected for each application. The Screw pump will operate most efficiently at the maximum capacity for which it is designed.
